I’ll get to the other in the next few weeks — nominations for other key weapons are welcome! The Vickers machine gun revolutionised the firefight in many ways hence its macro ‘accolade’ in this section.

BITCARNAGE

Wot No Lambos?

On the first day of Christmas… begins a song about a list of gifts. These were forfeits but they make for a list well beyond those of the festive verse. As FTX Announces Next Repayment Round For May 30 (Cointelegraph) a list of SBF forfeits (Private Jets, Political Cash Among $1B In Sam Bankman-Fried’s Forfeited Assets: Court -Coindesk) lists 2 private jets (clearly the key marker for an egalitarian socialist like SBF) a 2009 Bombardier Global 5000 and a 2006 Embraer Legacy. Alongside vast swathes of other stuff, there were payments refunded AKA 250 donations to the US Congress and — perhaps shockingly as this is crypto we are talking about, NOT A SINGLE LAMBO!

If you enjoyed this excerpt you may be interested to know that you can read Bitcarnage every day in Exchange Invest.

Alternatively, if you want to follow Bitcarnage — the daily update on happenings in the world of crypto and digital assets, then you can find Bitcarnage as a standalone on Substack.

OF INTEREST

As always, a review of interesting reading to provoke thoughts and consideration… Not sure we agree with much of it….but it’s thought-provoking!

We mentioned Sir Basil Zaharoff previously Sat 29 October 2022 EI 2493:

PLY: Reading the book review above which has a kind of shock and awe that suddenly some merchants might be involved in shady deals (as opposed to those fabulously above board politicians, especially those held in high regard by the Morning Star like Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov or that Georgian geezer Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili.

Anyway, famously lampooned by Hergé in TinTin & The Broken Ear as Basil Bazaroff, Sir Basil Zaharoff is a fascinating character from history about whom I would love to learn more… The story goes that when he began burning his papers (such a shame…the secrets would have been fascinating) as he felt death approaching, his butler was concerned Zaharoff would be scorched by the intense flames as he set about removing some clearly controversial legacy archives…

This weekend let’s look at some more tales of the remarkable “Sir” Basil:
