Big World

From EI 2049, Thursday May 13th:

“The asymmetry of warfare is writ large in the current Gaza conflict. The Palestinians can produce bombs to what are apparently Iranian blueprints using pipes, fertilizer and essentially DIY kit for a few hundred dollars per device. On the other side, the Israeli authorities use a stunning US-sponsored anti-missile technology which seemingly costs up to $50,000 per launch — using multiple proximity warheads to explode the Palestinian missiles in mid air. This week what amounts to an unprecedented missile surge from the Palestinians has breached this iron dome shield provoking an understandable reaction from Israel.

This all comes at an interesting time as PM Netanyahu is currently out of the negotiation cycle to form a new government but clearly such attacks by the PLO seem to reinforce support for the hawkish Bibi…their seemingly mortal enemy. Food for thought.”
