Scary statistic from the World Bank which estimates that 50% of Lebanon’s population has slipped below the poverty line. The Lebanese Pound has lost 90% of its value since October 2019 and the exchange rate is more like 1500 Pounds to a USD dollar where the official rate is 1507.5.
The most salutary element to this tale is how just 60 years ago Lebanon was known as “the Switzerland of the Middle East.”
As I mentioned when visiting Lebanon a couple of years back, the most incredible facet to the country was how the Uber drivers were all ethnic Lebanese — a sign I felt displayed an ongoing crisis in the nation. It is so sad to see an amazing country in this ghastly economic predicament.

Innovating Financial Law Through Blockchain
Max Ganado is a semi mythical figure in Maltese law: his widespread description as a ‘visionary’ hardly does him justice!
