PLY: This marks another potentially significant dislocation of global trade. Chinese containers are already stuck in Shanghai (Shanghai port still working despite lockdown, but lines are eying diversions — 500 container ships stuck outside Shanghai as Xi’s zero Covid policy wreaks havoc) before the global supply chain has rebalanced on many levels while Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has shut off a vast swathe of Europe’s breadbasket.
A fascinating conundrum, China is far from food security it seems — at least according to the current demands of the population (a point made elegantly by Marc Faber as a rising issue more than 25 years ago…).

Patrick Young on a mission to improve financial literacy — and no, it’s not “PLY” but a namesake with similar aims!
Patrick is Director for the New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The OGVP is the backbone of the city’s efforts to work with New Orleanians to create peace and prevent gun violence.
Prior to working with the Mayor, he served the New Orleans Business Alliance as Director of Training, managing the STRIVE work readiness training program. Operating across four opportunity centers in the city of New Orleans, Patrick helped employ over 890 formerly incarcerated persons in less than 3 years.
As Founder and Executive Director of “SharpMen” Patrick helped men overcome barriers to employment and was selected as a WK Kellogg Foundation Fellow for his proven leadership and dedication to improving the city of New Orleans.
And now Patrick is the author of his first book, “A WAY UP, Economic Development Post Incarceration” — a strategy toolkit for individuals with barriers in financial literacy and access to resources because of a conviction.
In 2021, he became responsible for Sinara’s sales and marketing operations, and continues to champion the SinaraTLC initiative, which has resulted in Sinara investing in a new suite of trading lifecycle components for brokers, exchanges and clearing houses.
