Exchange Invest Weekend Edition 2647: Nuclear Nightmare DE
Why Homework? Where Africa left legacy DNA. When a state fails. Diversity in the cloud, Monaco’s MI5, Time to Make Tech Great Again?
Exchange Invest is a unique information resource combining the day’s stories in a newsletter for investors in exchanges/financial markets infrastructure.
Exchange Invest was founded by former exchange CEO and author of the first bestselling book of fintech (“Capital Market Revolution!” FT 1999) Patrick L Young. Monday through Friday our daily paid subscriber email discusses the business of bourses of all kinds across the world.
This weekly edition is a magazine of broader macro topics as well as including our free weekly podcast which reviews the highlights of the week in the world’s market structure.
On this day in 2016, Bucharest Stock Exchange launched a process that may ultimately lead to the enhancement of the capital market architecture …In essence, SIBEX, riven by internal & shareholder politics had been left in a mess and was hoovered up by BvB with absolutely zero perceptible benefits to the Romanian economy from the monopoly thus created.
IN BIGWORLD
From Exchange Invest 2644: April 26th, Wednesday
It’s a case of virtual paradise postponed in the metaverse for now. Microsoft, has disbanded its Industrial Metaverse unit, which was tasked with making software for purely virtual manufacturing operations. In essence Microsoft wants others to develop the tech and then will buy it or encourage it to use MS OS. Apple appears to be abandoning actively promoting its VR headset too while over at Meta, it’s a bit of a bloodbath having lost $13.7 billion 2022 as a result of heavy Metaverse investment. Disney likewise is pulling out.
Exchange Invest Daily will return Tuesday, the weekend edition will be out tomorrow as usual.

BITCARNAGE
MIH Buys LedgerX
It seems that no matter how many innovations humanity invents, we always end up with a winning group — the lawyers. There is a further irony to the current situation as the crypto folks seek to decentralize finance and thus in many ways bypass legal norms. Anyway, Coinbase has decided to demand regulatory clarity from the SEC, a move I think could yet return to haunt them.
Everyday we cover the ongoing turmoil of BTC, crypto et al in our daily “Bitcarnage” section of Exchange Invest. For more details on a free trial to our premium newsletter of the bourse business delivered to your Inbox daily, you can sign up on our new beta website ExchangeInvest.com.
