The entire crypto world is convinced Paul Atkins becoming SEC Chairman is a watershed moment for crypto. Well, not so fast…
Yes, Paul is a true deregulatory advocate who has been very cynical about a lot of SEC issues and he has been involved in crypto advocacy but then again he was until his nomination, running a lobbying firm.
However, the issue for me boils down to two things. First up, earlier this week the spin from team Trump was apparently that the CFTC would take a lot more responsibility for crypto et al over the SEC… The second key concern must surely be that those of us with perspective that goes back a whole term in US electoral cycles will recall that the crypto bros were ecstatic that somebody who had been lecturing on crypto at MIT would become SEC Chairman. Remind me, how did that work out?

PLY: Next week we kick off our Festive year end round up hence something a little different to end this edition of the EI Weekend. Most people in the world can recall the crack UK fighter squadron, the Red Arrows (a reminder: Fly with the Red Arrows (3D): The Science Museum, London) but in the spirit of English eccentricity, there is also a fabulous display team whose origins seem to have been in Yorkshire but have apparently rapidly sprouted squadrons across the country, even amongst the southern shandy drinking regions contrary to northerners’ belief the sense of humour meets its demise around Watford Gap, viewed by some as England’s answer to the 38th parallel dividing Korea.
Anyway, a co-conspirator reports enjoying a Red Barrows display at the York races some years ago and it has to be said as a mesmerising display to rebalance the blood pressure over the Festive season, I think this is a wonderfully life affirming brace of displays from the mixed squadrons of Britain’s incredible Red Barrows: The Red Barrows, Yorkshire 2017 / Hassocks Red Barrows.
