IN BIGWORLD

From Exchange Invest 3226: March 20th:

Having had a front row seat of sorts in Romania a decade ago, I came away wondering if the nation was truly a feudal state and not a democracy.

Anyway, nationalist candidate Calin Georgescu who clearly led the field after the first round of Presidential voting last December, has now been banned from standing in the reconstituted election after the original first round results were cancelled, essentially at Brussels’ behest because the candidate didn’t agree with the EU.

100K+ people hit the streets last Sunday alone after the anti-democratic diktat was announced. Nobody wishes to stoke violence but the EU is sewing its own demise with gusto now. Prior to the ban, Georgescu was expected to take 40–45% of the first round vote giving him an enormous likelihood of being elected in a second round.
